I was a recipient of hospice services and because of what that team did for me and my family, I wanted to do the same. So I went back to school and have been in hospice ever since. Hi, I'm Donna Elsaesser; I'm a licensed clinical social worker with Suncoast Hospice. We start our day in the houses, we go out on the floors, is there anything that I need to know about right now. We meet the needs of the patients and families first, that's our first responsibility. We accept them, we talk to them, if we cannot meet their need at that moment then we find a way to come up with the best possible plan and I think overall within the organization it's the support from the top on down. I work with such an amazing group of men and women. They are dedicated professionals. We all feel called to be here. The learning center is phenomenal. They're all right here under our roof. We can access them via the internet and that's phenomenal. Not every hospice has that. I can't say there's a day that's ever really the same. I see it as helping somebody through what is probably the most difficult time of their life and that's a privilege.
