I have now been with AT&T for over 21 years and I can honestly say in that period of time I have never been bored. I got my start at AT&T 16 years ago as a technical member of research. It was kind of like my dream job really and I'm still here. Thank you again for joining AT&T, we are so pleased that you came to join us in our global operations center. One of my great passions is to see the advancement of women in technology. We believe that it's imperative to have our employee base very much reflective of the markets that we serve. You don't have to have a Ph.D. in technology to work in a technology company. You don't even have to have a technology degree to work in this company because we need people with many diverse backgrounds and many experiences and many assets.

The new AT&T represents a company that leads with wireless and mobility, we serve the entirety of the consumer market place and the business market place. We are global in our scope and our objective is to, with a core of networking solutions, provide solutions and services to clients with an excellent customer experience. We're doing things at all different levels that help our customers and help our country and help the world. When we think about technologies like sustainability for example, smart grids, you look at AT&T and you think the phone company but it's so much more.

Not only do we provide every employee with incredible training opportunities especially when you first come in. Those learning and development opportunities take all different kind of shapes and sizes and are ongoing as it relates to someone's journey and career here at AT&T. When I started and joined AT&T, I figured well I'm going to be a technical researcher and I'm going to do technical work. I never thought I would be given the opportunity to learn so much about all the other aspects of the business. There's so many different avenues you can go into networks, engineering I mean the sky's the limit. That's why I think it's a great company because there is just so much you can go into and you are not just pigeonholed in one area. If you have that personality and you're willing to learn the new technology I think you can get very far in the company. Technology plays such a critical role in the transformation of any business in any life and I do think that women have a unique opportunity ahead of them to make significant contributions in the area of technology. There is actually a shortage of talent graduating with degrees from the STEM fields, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. So there certainly is an opportunity I think to differentiate yourself and stand out and become part of what I think is an incredibly exciting future.

AT&T has been very supportive of my involvement in community work. They're very supportive of anybody who would be interested in doing work for the community because when you go out there you are representing AT&T. I've recently been appointed to the White House Commission for Educational Excellence for Hispanics. And this year I have the honor of being inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame. I've had a chance to serve on various boards. I'm also extremely active in the Asian American community and so AT&T is actually a founding member in several different organizations. So I've had a chance to be a better leader and be a better contributor but also to be honest to be a better person. You have someone who actually cares about where you're going the success, where you want to go ten years from now, 15 years from now so you do have somebody who's on you, you're not just a number in a big company. It's just a great opportunity and being able to be a part of it, it's amazing!I am very proud of being an employee of AT&T. It's afforded me so many opportunities to do incredibly exciting work to meet incredibly exciting people to visit incredibly exciting places and to do such incredible things I never would have been able to imagine doing.

If you are a woman and your interested in technology you've got to seriously consider AT&T. It doesn't mean that you have to be in a technical job the entire career that you have but you could, you could start in technology and branch out into many other different functional areas. A career at AT&T in technology is very much attainable for women. We encourage it, we want more of it and if you want to do it we can. There is only that one right path for you. What I think is so special about AT&T is that there are incredible opportunities to seek and strike up what that one right path for you is.
