Stamford Health provides high tech and high touch care to the patients that we serve. I like to say that we're a community hospital but a whole lot more. Our vision is to be that recognized regional center for , and to do that, it's going to take each and every one of us that are part of the Stamford Health team. As a Planetree hospital, we are centered on the patient experience. We look at them truly as a person, and what is most important to them for their healing. We believe that the best decisions are made when you give the caregivers who are at the bedside the empowerment to really make good decisions for their patients. We have a shared governance structure. Our opinions are valued, no matter whether we are a housekeeper, staff nurse, manager, director, there's a way to voice your opinion and be heard. Heart and Vascular is one of our Centers of Excellence. We provide a number of diagnostic services including elective angioplasty and emergency angioplasty and open heart surgery. The Da Vinci robotics system that we have with in our surgery center is the latest in technology. Meditech is hospital wide. It has all patient data from insurance to blood work, to patients' information. Its state-of-the-art, try to keep ahead of the curve. The employee of the month program is a great program that we have where a staff member is nominated for the award, and a group of us find the employee and we surprise them. It's a total surprise. Everybody who I've talked to says almost the same thing: "I can't believe they picked me." So obviously that humble feeling, a feeling of you work with great people, is prevalent throughout the institution. As the on-boarding partner at SH I meet with each individual new hire to help assimilate them into the organization. We really provide this concierge service. Each person gets the individual attention to make sure that their needs are met, questions are answered and to really ensure that they have the best experience. Retention is one of our priorities here at Stamford Health. I think that we do an amazing job of this. I am a clear example. I had started five and a half years ago as a staff nurse, I was promoted to charge nurse; I'm now in an HR Management position. Stamford Health also offers a clinical ladder program. We provide several educational opportunities for our staff, whether it be internal leadership classes through our education, organization and development department. Stamford Health is on our Magnet Journey. Our commitment to pursuing a Magnet Status confirms the dedication and excellence in nursing here. It's a very friendly environment, all the people are great to work with. This is a team effort: every case, every shift, every day. We take care of our patients; we take really good care of our patients. I think that we have a great staff that really help create a sense of belonging, a sense of family.
